Today the whole country is abuzz with just one work and that is KPO. Well if you arent amongst them, then just for the information KPO is an anagram for Knowledge Process Outsourcing. Some understand it as a link above BPO, others as back office work for consultancy and majority as hardcore Google search. However, been working in this industry for almost an year, i have formed an opinion quite different from those shared above. So please dont expect the post below to substantiate any particular thought. Instead it just provides a peep into working at a KPO.
Characters: Project Manager - PM, Analyst - BA, Senior/Lead Analyst - LA
The day typically starts somewhere at 8 am. Typically, you have the freedom to choose ur office timing provided the project doesnt have any specific requirements. After meeting the team BA trys to settle down by first checking all the mails, reading all the forwards and having a good laugh. Then slowly the office feeling sinks in and BA realises the pending work on the deliverable and the deadline set by his LS/PM for the project delivery. BA know there is no data available on the project but still hears out LS/PM..however, he doesnt want to voice his opinion coz if they stuble upon something then he is gone. The clock is not moving anymore and our BA is desperately waiting for lunch break wherein he'll meet other BAs and hear out their stories. But its a long way to go before lunch. So he looks back at his computer and send some forwards to his friends and start some random googling. About 40 min later, he is nearly dozzing (Thanks to the football match last night). Suddenly, the desk phone rings. Its the LM reiterating the project deadline. BA makes offers a smart solution to non availability of data i.e. to work on the paid databases or have a team meetings. These things give time to catchup on ur self and spend some time off the computer screen. Then comes the most awaited hour of the day, the lunch time, when most of the team goes gossip and have fun. Post-lunch you can't help it and steal away a good number of naps (usually the desk phone is ur alarm and it awakes u after every 5 minutes :))

Jai Mata Di - My Vaishno Devi Trip
The description of the trip would be quite incomplete without the mention of the long weekend that our company granted us after a long time.
We had friday off for this week and hence the weekend lasted for 3 days. We (Nikhil and i) started off our journey from Gurgaon at about 4:00 pm in Nikhil's car and were at Luv's Palace (yeah u read it right ;)) at 5:00 pm. So by 7:00 pm we were in the bus (yes..wont call it a volvo...no lights, no blankets, no TV, no movies) marked for the journey and remained there for another hour.

Fourth last weekend in Gurgaon
Well, i dont know why i want to put this weekend to words but yes there was something which is making me to do this.
This weekend i planned to go to Noida to meet Pandy, but since no program was finalized to eventually he came down to Gurgaon on Saturday evening. Saturday morning i woke up to a cloudy sky which motivated me to go for a late morning walk. Afternoon were as sleepy as usual. In the evening i came to know about the accident which the IBM group had met with. Therefore, went to meet them there and spent the whole evening with them and dined at OM sweets sector 31.
Passed the whole Sunday morning in the office in the Afternoon went to roam about in the malls. Then had a hefty lunch at Ruby Tuesday. The Chocolate tall cake was really filling (keeping in mind that i had more than 50% of the of the huge pie). Visited Ansal Plaza in the evening and also South ex - part 1 and 2 markets. Then finally sealed the day with a long drive back to Gurgaon through CP. :)

Honeymoon Peroid
Honeymood Peroid, as it is called, refers to the time spent in an organisation once you have resigned. As you might has guessed (and believed worldwide :)) from the name itself, this peroid is the time when you have most fun and no work at all.
Well, i resigned from my first company this Monday and thus, entered the so-called Honeymoon Peroid with hopes of finaly enjoyin the day by surfing net and chatting/disturbing team members. But contrary to the general belief, this peroid is turning out to be one of my heaviest in terms of work load. A typical day stretches 11 to 13 hrs + the extra time spent on net.
Today was quite a reflection of these typical days...had to co-ordinate my work with the international team + lookign over the work of other analysts + giving updates to my seniors while writing client mails simultaneously (seems like finally India has found an alrounder/multi- tasker ;) ). well, sulking apart, the work is providing a whole new experience in terms of new responsibilities and exposure. Hope to finally learn something after spending an year at the organisation.
